General Statement

In my artworks my subject is myself. Through my own image I explore notions of identity and relationships in a mediated world. I examine our desires by appropriating genres of mass media and commodity such as advertising, documentary and the TV movie, fulfilling the expectations that those genres set up. Through the means of a kind of narcissistic projection into fantastical roles such as a US Marine, Police Cop, or Multilingual Translator I try to find ways to examine the systems inherent in contemporary culture. Forming a knowingly amateurish pastiche I attempt to carry through to completion the wants of a culture that I see constantly beckoning to a place that arguably should never be reached.
